It's been a busy week... Dad in the hospital now, recovering from surgery, me starting my job at Old Navy just in time for the holiday madness and now also having to take over some of the duties here at home, not the least of which, walking the dogger. It's been a good week, in regards to the amount of time I've gotten to spend with Butch. I could use a little more music, but that oughta be taken care of somewhat tonight, when I perform in NYC with Aaron. Check THIS out; there should be some photos up this evening and later.
On a different note, Tim and I stumbled across a lovely little book at Borders entitled, "Why Paint Cats"... Got me thinkin'.. Haven't gotten around to the cat yet, but orange is a good color for the dog. Didn't do anything more than just her forehead, so far.

Weekend personal fun fest in NYC!!!! Saturday night, made it JUST in time for Butch's amazing set at the Postcrypt Coffeehouse at Columbia U. After that, wandered over to some Morrocan restaurant to meet Adam Good in person for the first time since the only time I've ever seen him. Still hitting it off like mad with him, glad to have him in my world, and glad to finally get to know some of his. Add one more friggin incredible musician to my population. Stayed up until dawn, playing and whatnot, woke up straight into a scheduled recording session here at the apartment. Kids music. Songs about planets. How...planetary. When that got old, I got up and went to Aaron's for our own little dulcimer session. Realized what a dream come true it is to be playing with him. How many years have I lusted for some hip young dulcimer player to partner up with? And now here it is, and even better than that because I'm certain he's a musical genius as well, particularly in regards to the electronics... I'm now completely excited about our gig on the 25th. More on that later. Got to see Aaron play at Halcyon, a coffeeshop/recordstore/furnituregallery in Brooklyn. His set lasted an hour, but felt like a minute. Such great sounds swallowing my body... Could have stayed there all night, but in order to get more playtime in with Adam, I headed back to his place, finally got a good night's sleep, and I'm getting ready for a lunchdate with Dean (Polypman) not too long from now....

Weee!!! Went to the contradance in Glenside last night for the first time. Boy oh boy am I SILLY for never going before! What a fabulous dance. Great folks, great music, fantastic dancing. Didn't sit down the whole dang night. Ran into some folks I'd met at folk fest this year, including Ethan's cello player, who's now really looking forward to this nyckelharpa/dulcimer tour for next summer.
Received a healthy bunch of compliments over the course of the evening. I'll list the top three here for you.
1. My, what a delightful swing you have!
2. You wear that skirt very well. (this, by the way, came from Bruce, who was wearing a skirt himself)
3. You're only 22? I guess that means I can't be falling in love with you tonight.
See? Contradancing is a great deal. Some good exercise, some social activity, and an ego boost, all for only $5!
I felt SO good after all that dancing that I decided to stop by hippieboy's house and make some peace, or perhaps just explain my piece about disappearing out of his life while dealing with some hardships at home and accidentally falling in love with another. Fortunately, or unfortunately (i'm not sure which), he wasn't home at the time, so i left a simple note and went on my merry way. On the way home, I got to thinkin' about all kinds of messes I've left behind me (and by "messes" I mean "broken bleeding hearts"). When I finally got around to layin' in my cold lonely bed, I sent a little imaginary peaceboat out to some folks who probably deserved it a long time ago. I haven't made complete sense of all of this just yet, but as I figure it, this coming month is going to be both very hard and very good. I already know who to thank for the goodness.

This just in... The next Cimbalom World Congress has been scheduled for Oct 8-12, 2003 in Switzerland. More details to follow, eventually. Apparently, they're in no hurry to get any of the particulars nailed down (or posted up on a website), but that's ultimately just good news (no pressure) for dulcimer festival organizers in general.
Also, there's a big bad dulcimer competition and festival happening in the Czech Republic in May. I expect to be attending both, with any luck.

I guess you can tell life's been interesting lately, since I've been not blogging. Well, let's see. The adoption's off, it's snowing in the Catskills, Natureboy came to see some autumn and then went running back to LA for some "good" weather, I been singing BR songs like I'm cramming to memorize the lyrics... 'Round here it's been all love love love, and man, I think it's time for me to go have something to eat. Butch, I can't say you've ever made the leavin' easy.
